![]() "If you like (I mean *really* like) over-one stitching, this piece is for you. And because much of the design uses that technique, there are very few blended floss colors." - Teresa Wentzler Specialty Stitches for this design: wrapped backstitch, four-sided, herringbone, eyelet, three-sided, lazy-daisy. If you need extra help, Teresa's main website has several pages. Large Designs , Specialty Stitches , Organizing Floss ![]() Personal Observations: or... my 2¢ worth, take it or leave it. Jan J. - Webmistress When tackling the Castle Medallion (aka confetti stitch'n) - Start with the non-blended thread symbols and work from the turrets down toward the green foreground trees. That way you're not stuck trying to find some place to anchor the !@#!@# floss tails. ![]() Guinevere Chart Tip (Kit Chart #42361): Some stitchers may have a tough time trying to figure out what is hair and what is crown. So I uncovered some of the symbols and colored her hair in.
![]() Striped Background Tip (Kit Chart #42361): Some stitchers have asked if there is a misalignment on the striped background behind the date and initial blocks. What it is, is an optical illusion. If you count three (over 1) squares on the twisted vine border and then place the pearl cotton thread the strips will line up properly.
![]() Interested in Adding Kreinik® Metallics: Here is Moira's (Erica Gonzalez) list of BALGER® Blending Filaments and tips. Friday June 7, 2002 I added one strand of pearl Kreinik (032) to the top leg of the purple mountains in the castle medallion. I added one strand of gold Kreinik (002) to the top leg of the corner rope motifs. To give the appearance of precious metals and gems, I blended one strand of Kreinik with the DMC as follows in the sword blade, sword hilt, jewels on sword, crown outlines, Guinevere's and Arthur's crown, the hair above Guinevere's crown on the top of her head (to give the appearance of a gold filmy net), Guinevere's earrings, medallions on Guinevere's and Arthur's tunics, the medallions on the horses in the jousting scene, the shield of the knight on the right, the medallions on the horses' bridles, and all knight armor:
![]() Reminiscing Down Memory Lane: As I posted Moira's BF list I got to thinking of when I started camelot sampler; and discovered the first bulletin board discussing Teresa's designs. It was back in the spring of 1996 that I bought CS; one of 5 kits all different TWs - that was the beginning of my first stash collection. It wasn't until 1997 that I finally opened it up and started stitching on it. I had completed the sword block and was just getting started on the Guenevere block when I became discouraged with this new, to me anyway, stitch called over-one. That, and this was the first time I had ever worked on evenweave fabric, at the very daunting fabric count of 28. I decided to take a break from working on it and put it away in the closet. Two years later I rediscovered it while cleaning said closet. By then I had my own computer and was learning how to use an Internet search engine. I had always wondered if Teresa had more than just the one chart and 5 kits I had found at my local chain craft store; and if there were any sources/information on the Internet for her designs. Oh rapture! I was in stitchery heaven. My computer's search engine had brought me straight to her webpage. After looking at most of her site and siging up on her (now closed) e-mail list I ventured into the bulletin board that she ran from her web site. Back in September 1999 when I joined it was the Ultimate Bulletin Board®; back then there were less than 1000 total members. It was June 1999 that Erica "Moira" Gonzalez became Moderator of the newly created "Camelot Sampler" forum. Some of the stitchers (and lurkers) from that first CS forum are listed below:
It was January 9, 2001 that Moira closed all the topic threads and cut the apron strings to the old bulletin board. We headed over to our new digs at ezboard® where our membership has soared ever since. As of October 12, 2007 we have moved yet again. Ezboard has a new message board software platform called YuKu® which seems to have a lot more bells and whistles for its user interface. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm going to miss the old control center of Ezboard....Sniff.... |
